Centrelink is the government department which handles all welfare payments, including Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy.
Making a claim for any of these payments can be complicated and time-consuming, but it doesn’t have to be!
If you are an Arc member, the Arc Student Support staff can provide you with some of the forms you need to apply for Centrelink payments. They can also give you advice about your entitlements, and help you deal with Centrelink staff and appeal decisions. Centrelink’s eligibility criteria are extremely limited, and changes in your circumstances can often affect your entitlements.
If you want to make a claim for any of these payments, go to a Centrelink office (centrelink.findnearest.com.au) call Centrelink’s Youth and Students Line, 13 24 90, or go to www.centrelink.gov.au.
Note: all the payment rates on this website are correct as at 10 June 2008.
