The GalleryKudos Gallery: internal shoot

Kudos Gallery is located in the heritage-listed St Sophia Hall, at 6 Napier St, Paddington, just a 2 minute walk from the College of Fine Arts campus.

The gallery was established in 1998 by the COFA Students’ Association to provide COFA students with an accessible gallery space off-campus to develop an exhibition profile whilst still at university. Post-VSU, Kudos is still run by COFA students, now supported and funded by Arc @ UNSW.

The history of our student-run student gallery

  • Our first exhibition was in 1985 in the Hyatt Kingsgate Shopping Centre, Kings Cross with a show called 'Cross Hatchings'.
  • In 1985 it was officially named Arthaus - a student initiative of visionary students including Steve Fasan, Gill Mooney and Ian Jackson.
  • With the introduction of Kudos Gallery in 1998, Arthaus' final location at Enmore was closed and energies and finances were directed into the new gallery space in Napier St.

The facilitates interaction between students, UNSW and the community. We provide services and advocacy for issues and groups such as:

Kudos Gallery is an exhibition space, run by students for students and located one minute away from the COFA campus.

Exhibitions are held throughout the year, usually opening on a Tuesday night.
