Welcome to the Women’s Department!
The Women’s Department exists to represent the needs of female-identifying students at the Kensington/Main and COFA campuses, within the community and to the government. The Women’s Collectives drives this representation, and provides a voice for female students on the SRC. The department’s services and collective membership are free to all UNSW women students.
If you want a listening ear and some support, please send the 2008 Women’s Officer, Claire Nemorin an SMS on 0409 462 101 or email women@arc.unsw.edu.au to make an appointment or to ask any questions. Claire is also on Main campus on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am-5.00pm – so pop into the Women’s Room! To communicate with other women, please contact Claire to be put on our explode list or join our facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=3082625163.
The COFA Women's Officer is Jade Muratore.
Women’s Rooms
The Women’s Room is a safe and autonomous space for women, persons who identify as women and anatomical women who identify as genderqueer/trans.
This welcoming room contains a mattress, couches, beanbags, a kitchenette with a fridge and toaster, and a computer with internet access. Also available are books that can be borrowed and information on women’s services. It is the space where the Women's Collective meets.
The Women's Room is on Level 1, East Wing of the Blockhouse, Main Campus.
The COFA Womyn's Room is located just next to the Common Room, E Block, COFA Campus.
The Women’s Collectives
The Women’s Collective is a social, political and organising space for all women.
We meet weekly on Mondays from 2-3pm in the Women’s Room, Blockhouse where we talk confidentially, and plan campaigns and activities to raise awareness about gender issues that affect women disproportionately.
The COFA’s Women’s Collective meets Wednesdays 1 – 2pm in the Womyn’s Room, COFA Campus.
