The Award is aptly named the Heinz Harant Award in recognition of outstanding volunteer, Heinz Harant.
Heinz completed a degree in Electrical Engineering and was a member of the fourth class ever to graduate from UNSW.

Volunteers are valued at Arc and we appreciate the time and effort volunteers dedicate to enrich student life at UNSW and in return valuable social and life skills are gained.
If you know someone who should be recognised for their outstanding volunteer work with Arc, nominate them for the prestigious Heinz Harant Award.
Nominations close on Thursday 26th April 2012.

Heinz Harant Nomination Form.
Throughout his time at University and after graduation, Heinz dedicated years of service to student life on campus. This included 28 years of service on the Union's Board of Management, many years serving on the University Council, the creation of a Provisional Committee for the establishment of a Students' Guild and, consequently, as a founding member of the Students' Guild Council.
He then went on to serve for many years on the Students' Guild Council, advocating issues such as autonomy, freedom of speech and political action. Because of his impeccable standards of honesty and care, he was gladly accepted as Honorary Treasurer of countless activities and Returning Officer.
Heinz helped to establish the University's Alumni Association and remained on the Alumni Board from its inception until his death in 1993. He was awarded a special Alumni Award for service in recognition of his outstanding commitment.
