2017 was the time of our lives thanks to you!

We let loose at the Session Parties, by tying up our Toga and throwing back to the 90's. We joined 300+ Clubs & Societies from Frosoc to LOLSoc to everything in between and mix-and-mashed it up at Clubs Mashups. We hit the track with Arc Sport, trying everything on offer on for size at Festival of Sport then reppin' our faves at Unigames. We even spent thousands of hours volunteering (phew!). The highlight of the year was our MASSIVE 10th birthday which we celebrated with a week long festival of freebies and fun.

O-Week 2017

We started 2017 off with a hell of a time at O-Week. Your next adventure at UNSW started off with a banger of a week filled with activities, activation, hundreds of clubs, parties and more. With over a 100,000 visiting the Kenso and Paddington campuses, our Yellow Shirts took over 3500 freshers on tours and turned campus into a massive celebration of student life.

Arc Turns 10

Arc Turned 10!

2017 marked 10 years of delivering the best student experiences, from sports and switching up your social life, to parties and celebrations, volunteering, clubs and MORE. We celebrated our big birthday with a huge birthday bash over a week, with workshops, freebies and fun all over campus.

Art & Design

Arc @ Art & Design

Art & Design had an amazing year in 2017. The launch of a new on campus gallery, AD Space was definitely a highlight and resulted in 48 new exhibitions, increasing volunteering opportunities, professional development and employment on campus. Arc also took the reigns of 3 Foot Square as a second exhibition space on campus, complimenting exhibitions at AD Space and allowing even more chances for student work to be shown.

Kudos Gallery welcomed over 4,000 guests throughout the year, with an average of 110 guests per exhibition. It also provided volunteering and exhibition opportunities for 200 students. In it's 16th year, the Kudos Gallery Emerging Artist & Designer Award exhibited and celebrated a diverse group of students, with Sabella D'Souza taking out the top gong for the second year running.

Art & Design continues to work it's magic with the Brightside artistic mentoring program, Framework, Gallery Crawl, Residencies and grants to support students in fulfilling their creative dreams, not to mention or regular free lunches. Art & Design continues to be a major support for a blooming culture fierce like Beyonce and proud like Kieran's moustache.

Arc Sport

Arc Sport

Sport continued to smash all of it's goals in 2017 with the launch of new initiatives and clubs, and plenty of UNigames glory.

She Can launched in 2017 as the first female-only sports initiative at UNSW. Created by women, for women, it celebrates fitness and encourages women from all facets of uni life to participate and find their fitness fit through regular pop-ups and online workouts, and had over 1000 participants in it's inaugural year.

With 35+ sport clubs, we've had some big wins this year. The addition of a Lacrosse club and development of a Rugby Union Women's 7 side were highlights, as were our many national and state wins. With over 3000 students involved in sports clubs, we have everything from Windsurfing & Sailing to Ultimate Frisbee!

2017 was also massive for Unigames, with #TeamUNSW ranked within the top 5 at all three major events (Eastern Unigames, Snowgames & Australian Unigames), taking 1st place at Snowgames.

Arc Clubs

Everybody in the club! Clubs continued to be the best way to make mates, snag a free sausage and find the time to celebrate your passions (and make new ones) in 2017. We had 18 new clubs, with the Rap Society and Engiqueers bringing the total clubs to 287

We had four (monster) Club Mashups this year, bringing our clubs and students together in new and wild ways. We also ran 18 different types of workshops for our How To...2017 Club Awards saw NUTS crowned Club of the year for a 2nd year running, with FroSoc taking the top prize for New Club of the Year.

Arc Volunteering

We changed the world one hour at a time with over 18,000 volunteer hours in 2017. Nearly 4000 volunteers took part in our 30+ volunteering programs, with new initiatives like Event Horizon's Acoustic Performer Comp which went on the hunt for the next Jack Johnson and Cultural Cafe which helped students make new mates and chat over a coffee, to amazing feats from old favorites, like Stationery Reuse which gave away over 14,000 pens, pencils and more!

UNSWeetened celebrated it's 20th year in print and The Student Cookbook Launch at The Greenhouse went over a treat. eReuse doubled the number of computers it refurbished and donated, as well as it's volunteer roles. Artsweek was a massive success, creating a canvas out of the Kenso campus with murals, workshops and interactive installations. If you want more good karma in 2018, stay tuned for more opportunities to volunteer, ramp up your resume and make an impact.

Do good, Phil' Good

In it's second year running, Phil' raised a MASSIVE $75,000+ for Child Life & Music Therapy, Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.

We held charity challenges throughout the year, including a Charity Concert, Pedal 4 Kids, City 2 Surf and countless Bunnings bake sales and sausage sizzles all FUNdraising for our amazing cause. It all culminated in our 24-Hour Fun-A-Thon, with over 200 participants and 24 teams grooving, moving and raising funds continuously.

Shout out to all of our sponsors and all of the amazing participants, volunteers and donors to Phil' 2017!

Even though our beloved Roundhouse was getting a much needed face-lift this year, the Roundhouse crew were still 'round, putting on parties, events and session parties throughout the year.

Our vacation location The Greenhouse had us holidaying in the sun and feasting on delicious food provided by a range of food trucks. Coogee Bay hotel played temporary host to over 10,000 party people for our Session Parties, with old faves like Toga Party and Foundation Day Party going off and getting lit. We also hosted Springfest, Band Comp, Beyonce & Rihanna Dance Classes, Beerfest, Ciderfest, Foundation Day and International Night Markets which saw 30+ clubs, societies and colleges getting involved to serve up a treat for your tastebuds.

What goes 'round, comes 'round - get ready for a bigger and better Roundhouse in 2018 as we re-open after renovations. We're bringing back gigs, keeping the party goping all year long with massive Session Parties and providing premium bevs and bites on campus!

Arc Wellness

We put your health and happiness first in 2017 with more regular pop-ups, chill zones, workshops and the introduction of Wellness Wednesdays.

We had a presence at Stress Less Week in both S1 & S2, hosting workshops, inviting speakers from Black Dog Institute and Head Space and at countless other events on campus, from R U OK? Day to Spring Fest.

Our chai & chat stall during STUVAC gives you the chance to take a moment to socialise during the busy study period.

See you next year!
