The Education Collective provides a forum for interested students to engage with world and domestic issues, and a chance for students wishing to fight for change on various student questions to gain necessary skills and meet fellow activists.
Discussion forums, drinks nights with guest speakers, and other events will be held throughout 2013.

Hi, my name is David Bailey-McKay. I'm a 4th year Social Work/Arts student. My first involvement in student activism was in 2010 with the noodle day rally against student poverty and the industrial dispute between the university and NTEU. I saw that by being active in student life I could better my university life. This has resulted in running for Education officer in 2011 and 2012. Things I have done in this time include organising a protest against cuts to CSE, FASS and COFA, presenting petitions to parliament and sitting on review committees for issues such as SAFF and course structures. Hobbies of mine include listening to music, procrastibaking and watching Community. |

My name's Lauren and I'm a third year media student. I got involved because I wanted to do my bit to make student life easier at UNSW. Uni can be a fantastic experience, but there's plenty of room to improve our time here. I want to make sure students have a diverse range of subjects to study, small class sizes, plenty of face to face time with their teachers and better access to their course materials. I also want to take part in more long term battles against fee deregulation and changes to HECS that hurt students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. By getting involved in student representation we have a huge opportunity to improve the quality of our education. We have big plans for the Ed Collective this year so make sure to visit our stall at O-Week or contact us!
