Kudos Volunteer

Program overview: Run by COFA students for COFA students and funded by Arc, Kudos Gallery is a professional exhibition space for artists, curators and designers to explore and present their work beyond the realm of the studio. There are two levels of volunteering at Kudos; entry level aimed at 1st and 2nd year students, and the Kudos Committee aimed at 2nd year through to Postgrad students.

What volunteers do: Entry level volunteers assist with running the bar at openings, gallery minding and annual maintenance. The Kudos Committee set the exhibition program, run special projects and workshops, publicity and media, social events and cross School and Faculty outreach.

Volunteer Commitment: Entry level volunteers are required to do 2 hours per fortnight. The Kudos Committee should expect to do 2-5 hours per week, including attending meetings or openings at 5pm on Tuesdays.

What you get out of it: Being an active Kudos volunteer is the best way to meet other COFA students and network with the wider Sydney arts community. Gallery minding allows you to spend time with exhibitions and talk to people who visit the gallery, with free WiFi it's also a great quiet place to catch up on homework. Serving drinks at openings usually leads to paid work at other galleries or art events. Skills learnt by students in Kudos Committee roles include project and event management, collective organisation, teamwork, running a gallery, coordinating people, communication, time management, publicity and marketing.

How you get involved: Entry level volunteer positions open in week 1 semester 1 and will be accepted all year. The Kudos Committee deadline is week 4 semester 1. Places in this program are competitive and you may be required to attend an interview. Apply via the Volunteer Application Form.
