Dinners in the Round | Fab food and Stylish Centrepieces

21 May 2019

The devil is in the detail. Elevate your next dinner focussing on fine food and fabulous finishing touches.

Planning your next gala dinner, awards night or Christmas party can seem like a mammoth task. What’s the best way to your guests’ hearts and make sure they leave with a great taste in their mouths? Food. Great food. Experiential food.

We don’t just taste with our mouths, we want a feast for the senses. European Catering, one of the four caterers on our panel, do a stand-up job assembling dishes with the wow factor. The best gala dinner dishes incorporate an element of fun, whimsy or beauty to feed our hunger for wonder, then serve up fantastic flavours to delight our tastebuds.

Here are a few examples and photographs of dishes on European Catering’s menus.

  • Seared salmon, mussels, chervil veloute, garden vegetables
  • Wagyu beef, Paris mash, black garlic
  • Ruby chocolate gateau opera
  • Roast barramundi, purple cauliflower, yuzu miso

What else can you do to make sure your event goes down a treat?

We love a good centrepiece. Give your guests a conversation starter when they sit down to dine. The best centrepieces tie back to the theme of the event, either in their concept or their colouring.

You can use similar colours in your event branding, centrepieces and lighting to create a cohesive feel throughout the room. Flowers are a great option but don’t be afraid to think outside the box, or sometimes even inside the box...

Here are a few of our favourite centrepieces from events we've hosted and check out the last photograph in our reel for an amazing example of a light box centrepiece we saw at MEA’s EVOLVE conference in Brisbane earlier this year (photo credit: O'Neill Photographics).
