Creating a Collaborative Client Event: The Jason Lyons Methodology

2 OCT 2018

“Camel rides?” Meet our Head of Venue & Events, Jason Lyons.

To be fair, not a bad idea in context as we brainstormed ideas for an Arabian Nights event. We love Jason’s big visions and want to share more about them and his story with you.

Jason’s career in events is more diverse (and eclectic!) than most: he has been the manager and coach of the Australian Women’s team at two Chess Olympics, and has been in the hot seat as the Event Director at high profile events like the ICC Cricket World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and World Swimming Championships.

In his role as Head of Venue & Events, Jason is focused on providing a full venue experience for clients that services all their event needs. He encourages creativity and excellent customer service across venue departments, promoting engagement with clients, and a full understanding of their event requirements.

"I research a client’s previous events to see where we can enhance their next event. Our client’s challenges are our challenges, and if my team can understand their business, it’s a big step for us in delivering a successful event”.

Jason always starts by saying ‘YES’. He wants to partner with a client and help problem-solve, exceed expectations, and celebrate success.

“As a venue we are dependent on clients and patrons having an awesome experience – it brings them back to the Roundhouse, and it drives recurring business”.

If you’d like to discuss your next event with Jason, or just need some tips to improve your chess game, get in touch with the Roundhouse venue team to arrange a site visit.

Take a look at some of the events Jason has been involved with since The Roundhouse reopened in March 2018.
