Shack Tutoring

"Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best."  - Bob Talbert

We're not quite sure who Bob is, but we like this quote… that's why it's here, on our webpage!

Shack Tutoring is an awesome program (take it from us!) run in partnership each year with Maroubra's the Shack Youth Services.

The aim of the program is to provide a free highschool tuition service to local students who have been identified as disadvantaged, or who cannot access a required paid tuition service. It runs on the first 3 weekdays of each week throughout Semesters 1 and 2.

The venue? Everyone's favourite - The Roundhouse! Yes, the students come to us.

And what's more, the program presents itself as a great development and leadership opportunity for willing UNSW students. All of our tutors are recruited as volunteers. What you get out of it though? Mentorship skills, the opportunity to pass on all of that awesome smartness we all hoard while at uni (right?), and of course that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with giving a little something back - to the community, and to young people.

We recruit tutors in a range of subjects. All you need is an hour of spare time a week on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday afternoon, between 3.30 and 6pm. Tutoring will start in mid-March, so get on it!
