Nominations Re-Opening on 12 September 2019

PGC ELECTIONS UPDATE: 

Nominations for the following positions on the PGC will re-open on Thursday 12th September 2019. 

Nominations will close at 4.00pm on Thursday 19th September 2019.

  • 4 postgraduate students from Electorate A (at least one of whom must be a woman)
  • 4 postgraduate students from Electorate B (at least one of whom must be a woman)

Electorate A

Electorate A is comprised of students from the faculties of Society and Culture; Education; Creative Arts; Law; Management and Commerce (including UNSW Australian School of Business and UNSW Art & Design).

Electorate B

Electorate B is comprised of students from the faculties of Engineering and related technologies; Architecture and Building; Information Technology; Natural and Physical Sciences; Health; and Agriculture.

One position of Councillor B will be filled by Ramanashree Palakshamurthy if he is unsuccessful in ballots for Officer positions.
Re-opened Nominations will include 4 Councillor B positions, however, depending on the above there may only be 3 available.

Candidates are shown alphabetically by enrolled surname within each position, not in ballot paper order.

Nominations for the vacant positions will be reopened on Thursday 12 September for a week.
Nomination forms will be available on the Arc website or from the Returning Officer.
The Draw for positions on the ballot paper will be conducted after the re-opened nominations close

No nomination was rejected.

VOTING

Online voting will be held in week 4.

Voting commences: Tuesday 8th October 2019 at 5AM.

Voting concludes: Friday 11th October 2019 at 10PM.

WHO CAN VOTE

All current UNSW PGC students may vote in the election of the following positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Equity Officer
  • Events Officer

The following restrictions apply for other positions:

  • Only current PG coursework students may vote for the Coursework Officer
  • Only current PG international students may vote for the International Officer
  • Only current PG research students may vote for the Research Officer
  • Only current PG women-identifying students may vote for the Women's Officer
  • Only current PG electorate A students may vote for the Councillor electorate A positions.
  • Only current PG electorate B students may vote for the Councillor electorate B positions.

TERM OF OFFICE

Officers and Councillors hold office from 1st December in the year of election until 30th November of the following year.

If elected as an Officer Bearer, you will be required to attend the following compulsory session:

  • PGC Inductions: Thursday, 7th November 2019 9AM- 4PM.
