About the role
We are looking for an eager journalism, media, history or content creation student to drive our Tharunka 70th anniversary activity. The ideal candidate will share our passion for Tharunka and have skills across publication and video production.
The key tasks we envisage for the role are:
Produce a 10-12 minute documentary about the history of Tharunka (no filming or editing required).
Produce a special edition of Tharunka featuring archive material and high-profile content pieces (no design required)
The role will collaborate with the current Tharunka team, Arc Marketing and UNSW archives.
Who are we?
Arc is a social enterprise based out of UNSW with a mission to create the best student experience. This mission encompasses a range of services and opportunities across Clubs, Volunteering, Community, Sport, Creative, Sustainability, Help and Wellness. A typical day at Arc can start with Wellness Warriors free breakfast, a lunchtime boardgame with our favourite Clubs, playing Social Sport in the afternoon, then hitting the Roundhouse for Gigs in the Garden. The organisation also creates additional value through the provision of Venue & Events (Roundhouse), Grad & Gift (The Grad Shop), external creative services (Campus Creative) and Sponsorship & Advertising. Arc is one of the largest student organisations in Australia with 30,000 members, 300 clubs and 30 student programs.
Arc Marketing is the creative engine room of the organisation charged with enhancing the brand, building the reputation and attracting diverse participants to our awesome opportunities. We both respond to internal client requests and drive strategic central campaigns that support our mission. The team is fiercely customer-focussed and religiously collaborative as we strive to create impactful communications. We also provide creative services like graphic design and video production externally through our boutique agency Campus Creative. The team prides itself on being inclusive, hard-working and innovative in our approach.
Responsibilities
Research the history of Tharunka extensively to inform all decision making is in the spirit of the publication
Oversee the selection, editing and design of a special 70th Anniversary Tharunka edition
Approach, engage and collaborate with stakeholders like the current Tharunka team, previous editors and UNSW archives to deliver a high quality publication
Work with Arc Marketing videographer and leadership team to document, produce and release a Tharunka commemorative publication
Skills & experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Currently studying a field relevant to the role (e.g. journalism, media, film, history)
Successful content creation and campaign experience across video and written
Ability to gather, synthesise and interpret content ased decision making in marketing contexts
Leadership experience in managing, developing and inspiring creative projects
Particular sensitivity and empathy for student or youth audiences and their customer experiences
Excellent oral and written communication skills across scripting and advanced editing skills
What We Can Offer You
$29.15 per hour, 12 hours a week until the end of December
This timing can be flexible into January/ February for the right candidate
