About the workshops:

Come As You Art: Art Therapy workshops will give students a safe space to create art, where you are able to focus on your own perceptions, imagination, and feelings.

Students who join are encouraged to create art that expresses their inner world and explores ideas, thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to articulate into words. Over the 2 hours we will have time to check in with each other, make art and then discuss what came up in the art making. These workshops will give students time and space to create and connect with each other.

About our Art Therapist:

My name is Emma Fitzgerald, and I have always found art making intrinsically healing. After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW, I continued to develop my art practice. My practice has centered around painting and drawing, using bright colours, organic shapes and focusing on the natural landscape. Over time my passion for Art Therapy grew as I felt that being able to help people via non-verbal creative methods is an amazing way to give back and assist others in need.

Having completed my Masters of Art Therapy in 2020, I am now a qualified counsellor and registered Art Psychotherapist with the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA). So far my experience has involved working with acute adolescent inpatients with a trauma informed practice.

In our work together we will meet you where you are at, with no judgement, and the aim to bring about a sense of empowerment and allow your truest, happiest and most authentic self to emerge. My therapeutic values are focused on openness, authenticity and accessibility, and I hope that these workshops allow you to begin to heal through art.
