ARIES 21st March- 20th April

As we have recently entered into the season of the Aries, this is of course, where we shall begin. As a fire sign that is the first of the zodiac, symbolic of a fiery birth and new beginnings, Aries are set to inherit qualities of vigour, excitement, passion, fun, adventure, ambition and a drive to challenge the status quo! Symbolised by the combative Ram, Aries are infused with a fighter’s energy, and an animalistic simplicity for strong but black and white emotions, such as love or hate, passion or revenge, uprisings or solitude. In my eyes, to do these qualities justice, a perfect book for an Aries must be equally high-stakes, fast-paced and engaging, full with action and passion and perhaps a little bit of fantasy, rebellion or revolution. So, without further ado, here are some books I think Aries might enjoy:

 1. Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller:

A novel that has re-emerged with a strong fan base on booktok. It includes themes of passion, war, and of course myth. The perfect larger than life story to match an Aries’ fiery energy and tempestuous spirit.

2. The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard:

A young-adult fantasy, featuring power, rebellion, and supernatural elitists. The main protagonist carries characteristics of an Aries herself in her resilience and determinism that fuels revolution.

3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo:

A high-stakes fantasy heist by fellow Aries writer, that is fast-paced, easy to read and gripping till the end. With elements of romance and adventure as well as multiple main characters who are all equally as intriguing and nuanced.

4. Red Rising by Pierce Brown:

A sci-fi, dystopia set in future Mars, (Aries very own planet) following a miner who infiltrates the elite class and sets upon a revolution. It pits the self in battle with enemy forces in ways that may resonate with the Aries self in perennial battle. Overall, action-packed and an excellent read.

5. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller:

A satirical war novel and a witty take on disillusionment of war and power. Definitely something every Aries should read at least once in their lifetimes.

6. The Year of Living Dangerously by Christopher Koch:

Perfect for the adventurous Aries spirit that is drawn to revolutions. Set in Indonesia, the book follows journalists caught up in a coup in the 1960’s. Filled with danger, adventure and a bit of romance that may resonate with the Aries' passionate side.

7. Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas:

This one is for the Aries with a slightly longer attention span, as this is a long read, but a vengeance classic for a reason and something you won’t regret reading.

8. These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong:

Another one for the Romance lovers, as this contemporary take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, set in 1920’s Shanghai is rife with Aries parallels, as it captures the passionate Aries loyalty, desires and ambition.

And there you have it! Hopefully you have found something to enjoy, but if not, let us know on the Facebook page what kind of books you enjoy reading as an Aries! As an Aries myself, I’d also like the recommendations and am interested to connect with my fellow Rams. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for Taurus book recommendations coming up soon!
