Top 30 Reads for Pride Month 2022

Hello everyone and Happy Pride Month!

For 2022 Pride, the UNSWeetened content team have submitted some of their favourite queer reads from this month; some new, some old, some classic and some short! 30 queer reads to keep you busy for the rest of a very prideful year! Hopefully, there is a little something here for everyone to enjoy, but most importantly, we would like to show our appreciation and celebrate the generations of queer writers that have fundamentally changed the writing scene for braving to be who they are! Growing up a queer confused about identity and sexuality, I was in constant search of representation to understand not just the LGBT landscape, but to understand myself! While it has never been easy to represent queerness in any profession, writers have truly faced a turbulent, unforgiving and often dangerous landscape to provide these pieces of representation, because they know how important it is to show the world as it truly is! A place with all kinds of people who present in different ways, love in different ways and live in different ways. One amazing thing about living in the 21st century is that we are starting to get a proper spectrum of writing that shows many diverse and inclusive facets of life, which I have learned as I struggled to write down all the names of the many queer books I was recommended! I wish I could l list every single one here, as my heart breaks for all the amazing books I missed out on, but if anyone would like to add their say on a favourite queer read, send it in to us and I’ll be sure to include them in the next book recommendations! For now, I hope you find something to enjoy and be inspired by!
