Recently named by Judo Australia as a Five Star Club, the UNSW Judo Club continues to engage and inspire their members through endless opportunities to grow and improve in the sport.

Last Sunday 4 August, the UNSW team hosted the University of Sydney and UTS for a hugely popular tournament that drew over 40 judoka, including plenty of female competitors.

Amongst the comraderie and spirited fighting for a place on the podium was a great development opportunity for juniors in particular to gain confidence in a competitive environment. The athletes were guided by referees to build upon regular training sessions, and new talent emerged through designated draws that were designed to give maximum exposure to fights.

The UNSW team certainly lived up to its history of success, walking away with the lion’s share of placings across the men’s and women’s pools. There is no doubt these victories will put the team in good stead for Nationals Div 1 to be held in the Gold Coast on September 29.

Women's Pool A: Wanyu Lin - 2^nd

Women's Pool B: Sarah McCormick – 1^st , Heather Anderson – 2^nd

Women’s Pool C: Victoria Ruming – 1^st , Amber Shen – 2^nd
