Welcome to Term 3 and Spring!
Congratulations to those of you who’ve graduated in Term 2, we wish you all the best and hope you will keep on connected with UNSW.
In October, I’m excited to announce that we will be running our Postgraduate Festival, an annual festival for postgrads and by postgrads providing you free access to 20+ events across 4 days from the 3rd to 6th of October. This year our events are categorised into 3 streams - Academic, Professional Development, and Social with events running in UNSW’s Kensington, Paddington and Canberra Campuses. Register for updates via Eventbrite and to individual events below.
For Australian citizens, October will also be an important moment with the referendum on the Voice to Parliament. We stand by and support the Uluru Statement from the Heart as well as the need to continue more work to closing the gap. This period of discussion has also been exceptionally tough for our First Nations members and I encourage you all to be respectful of the diversity of views in the community on this. Please make your voices heard by voting during the day and check out this website for details.
Another vote that is for all postgrads is the Postgraduate Council and Student Representative Council Elections early October. Keep a look out in your UNSW inbox and vote. Your vote counts on continuing the great work the Councils have been doing and reviving advocacy for issues that matter the most to you such as on assessments, accommodation and others!
Lastly, it was wonderful to meet many of you during our Postgraduate Community Town Hall last month and the Fortnightly Coffee Catch Ups. In this last quarter of our term in office, we still want to hear from you and do our best to initiate changes that benefit you. So far we’ve voiced out issues including on mandatory internships, assessments, accommodation, conference and many more.
