A message from the President

As term 2 comes to an end, I wish everyone all the best in their assessments and an enjoyable time in their coming term break!

The past month has been an exciting one for UNSW and the PGC as we celebrated UNSW’s #19 in the world ranking and recognise outstanding HDRs, supervisors and staff in the Arc PGC’s Research Awards Ceremony.

More broadly Australia has been in quite a football frenzy with the national team reaching the semi-finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Great work Matildas! If you’re free I would encourage you to spend some time to go to the stadium or watch together with friends the remaining games in many of the open air cinemas including at the Village Green.

For Australian citizens, the vote on the Voice to Parliament is coming up soon. Make an informed choice and get new insights by attending this student led panel discussion at UNSW. Register via Eventbrite.

Our fortnightly catch ups are back at Homeground every second and fourth Friday of the month. RSVP via the link in our newsletter to get $5 off your purchase.

Lastly, the PGC wants to hear from you. So far we have focused on advocating for accommodation support, use of AI in courses, HDR professional development support, visa and many others. What else do you want us to raise? Come meet other postgraduates and share your ideas/issues during our Postgraduate Community Town Hall on Friday, 18 August 2023! RSVP via here for catering purpose.

Have a wonderful rest of your month and see you in our many event!

Anthony P. Sunjaya

President, Postgraduate Council UNSW
