T3 2019 Trips

O-WEEK | Rose Bay to Watsons bay

We had an awesome start to the term with a whooping more than 60 students joining, it was surely a very fun trip while meeting tons of new people! We were able to soak in the panoramic view of the Sydney Skyline as well as the Harbour Bridge and Opera House from afar, all whilst exploring the different secluded beaches and bush views. We also extended the walk to the famous Hornby Lighthouse and getting an extensive view of the open ocean. The trip definitely got the good vibes going to kick start the new term!

WK 1 | Harbour Walk with Photo Club

We are back again with Photo Club and this time we went on the ultimate Harbour Walk. We walked from Milsons Point, through to Harbour Bridge and Opera House and all the way to Mrs Macquarie's Chair to catch the sunset! It was very lucky that the sky cleared up that day and we were able to have an amazing chill and relaxing photo walk while capturing those breath taking views!

WK 2 | Harbour Bridge Climb

We managed to snatch off a very good deal and went on Sydneysiders' biggest bucket list - climbing the Harbour Bridge! We were led with a professional guide and climbed the bridge for more than 2 hours, soaking in panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour from a one-of-a-kind perspective. We also booked in the last slot of the day climb to catch a glimpse of sunset while we're up there!

WK 3 | Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains trip was loads of fun despite the cloudy weather on the day! We hiked to Wentworth Falls and took in the beautiful scenery and learn the different flora and fauna as well as Aboriginal History of the area with our expert guide. Not to mention stopping over at the beautiful town of Leura with the cherry blossom blooming and getting our hot lunch in a local cafe. It was a great day indeed!

WK 4 | Art Gallery of NSW

In celebration of ArtsWeek, we went to visit Art Gallery of NSW for a little night out. With live Jazz music playing in the gallery whilst admiring the extensive collection of Australian & European Art, it surely felt like we’re all transforming to an Art student for the night! We also explored the interactive and intriguing Making Art Public & Here We Are exhibitions which were very cool to see!

WK 4 | Kiama Coastal Walk with WanderSoc

We went on one of the most beautiful coastal walks...Minnamurra to Kiama Coastal Walk! We're blessed with an amazing weather and getting to soak in a variety of stunning panoramic views of the coast and the different rock formations. We were also very lucky to be spotting whales not too far off from the coast playing in the water! 

WK 5 | Palm Beach Sunset Hike

What’s better than watching sunset at one of the most stunning point of Sydney? That’s right! We went on a hike up to Barrenjoey Head at Palm Beach last Sunday to catch the gorgeous sunset while we’re up there! Luckily the weather was just perfect with little to no wind so we were able to get those amazing pics for our next profile picture

WK 6 | Sculptures by the Sea

It's that time of the year again where the coastal walk from Tamarama to Bondi is filled with the various amazing sculptures! Rumors have it that it may be the last year for this exhibition to be on the eastern coast so we're very lucky to be able to visit it before it's gone for good! We also did the coastal walk from Coogee and soaked in the different beautiful coastal views before checking out the exhibition

WK 8 | Canberra Day Trip

Arc Goes To is finally hosting our first ever trip to Australia's capital city...Canberra! We did this trip in collaboration with UNSW Canberra. We've got the opportunity to learn more about Australia's political system through the guided tour in Parliament House, as well as learning Australian war history during our visit to War Memorial. To top it all off, we ended our trip by hiking up Mt. Ainslie to get a panoramic view of this beautiful city!

WK 8 | Dee Why to Narrabeen

Arc Goes To team planned a sunny and nice day out to the scenic Dee Why to Narrabeen Coastal Walk! And not forgetting the very peaceful and fun kayakin at Narrabeen Lagoon, it surely was a nice escape before cramming for our exams! 

WK 9 | Hunter Valley

Arc Goes To is back again with our Hunter Valley trip! We started off our day by visiting Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park where we are able to take pics with the roos and koalas! We got to taste around 20 wines in the day from 2 different boutique wineries, as well as having a cheese platter to accompany our wine tasting. We top off the trip with a visit to the Chocolate store and soaking in the vineyard views from a beautiful look out!

WK 10 | Dessert Crawl

We went on the ultimate Dessert Crawl in the newly opened and very hip Darling Square area. We had things from finger-licking unique donut flavors from Shortstop, espresso roullade and hungarian pastries from Kurtosh, bite-size cream puff from Emperor’s Garden, up to the out-of-the-world looking Bombe Alaska ice cream cake from Messina. What else could go wrong in finishing off the term in a (very) sweet note?

T2 2019 Trips

WK 1 | Spit to Manly Walk

To start off a fresh term, we did the famous Spit Bridge to Manly Walk for our first trip of the term. This 10km walk was definitely worth it!

The walk was equipped with panoramic coastal views as well as amazing bush views. We also get to do a mini picnic in the park for our lunch stop.

WK 4 | Manly to North Head

We're very lucky to have an amazing weather for our Manly to North Head walk after weeks of rain. 

We're joined by students from Canberra, it was very fun to show them less touristy side of Sydney! The views were gorgeous and we even get to see some war remains, also not to mention the delicious pizza we enjoyed before the hike!

WK 5 | Patisserie Run with BakeSoc

We started off our trip by visiting one of Sydney's hidden matcha gem; Cafe Cre Asion, then we visited the famous Uncle Tetsu to get their mouthwatering cheesecakes followed by the aesthetic but delicious Watermelon Cake from Black Star Pastry. Luckily the weather was amazing and we enjoyed a mini picnic in Hyde Park to devour these amazing desserts! 

We finished off our last stop at La Renaissance at The Rocks and enjoyed the pastry while admiring the views of Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It was truly a sweet day!

WK 6 | Watsons to Bondi

We’re lucky enough to get an awesome weather for our Watsons Bay to Bondi Walk. We started our walk at Watsons Bay Wharf and walked through all the different lookout and reserves, soaking in the amazing views and of course, not forgetting the awesome company and friends we met along the way! It was surely a nice short escape from all the exams and assignments.

WK 7 | Jibbon Head with WanderSoc

We took the ferry from the beautiful Cronulla to Bundeena to start our loop track. Jibbon Head track was equipped with not only gorgeous coastal views and different rock formations but there are also Aboriginal engravings on the rocks, which was very cool to see. We were also lucky enough to spot some squids in the beach! 

WK 8 | Port Stephens Whale Watching

We went to the beautiful Port Stephens to catch Whale Migrating Season and we were lucky enough to not only catch one or two but more than TEN whales swimming through the vast sea, doing their jumps and putting on a spectacular show for us. 

We also went camel riding and sand boarding, also not forgetting the amazing panoramic view up from the summit of Tomaree Mountain, it was surely a long and tiring BUT a super worth it and memorable day.

WK 9 | Royal Botanic Gardens

We went to the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden to check out all the plants and exhibitions there. We're also blessed with the amazing harbour views from our walk to the Mrs Macquarie Chair. Our visit to the Plant with Bites (carnivorous plants) exhibition at the Calyx was really interesting to explore!

WK 10 | Coogee to Maroubra

We ended the term with a short but sweet coastal walk - the Coogee to Maroubra walk. This walk is equipped with a lot of beautiful natural rock pools as well as various amazing rock formations. There was a lot of board walk along the sea which made the walk very enjoyable and easy. We also passed by a dog park and getting to meet a lot of the cute furry animals! It surely refreshes us before starting the dreaded exam studies. 

T1 2019 Trips

O-Week | Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk

Not only was the views from one of Sydney's most famous Coastal Walk very breathtaking, students also enjoyed mingling and finding new friends to kickstart Term 1! 

Not to mention the free pizza rewarding everyone for walking through the heat from Coogee to Bondi that everyone enjoyed most.

WK 1 | Barrenjoey Head at Palm Beach

The short but intense hike to Barrenjoey Head is surely worth it for the panoramic view of Broken Bay, Kuring-gai Chase National Park and the Central Coast! 

Students also went on the guided tour of Barrenjoey Lighthouse and learnt the history behind this heritage-listed lighthouse, whilst enjoying the view from a higher platform.

WK 2 | Royal National Park

It was such a great weather for a hike in the World's 2nd Oldest National Park. We did the Coast Track and enjoyed views of the famous Figure 8 Pools and Wattamolla Lagoon & Beach! 

After the scenic track, we also did a photostop at Sea Cliff Bridge and Bald Hill Lookout which gives us amazing and beautiful views.

WK 3 | La Perouse to Cape Banks Walk

Although we started off with a cloudy weather, the sky cleared up as the day goes and the weather became perfect for the beach! Along the walk, apart from admiring the beautiful views of Australian bushes and sea, we also get to say hi to many local animals and insects such as spiders, lizards and we even saw the tail of a snake.

WK 5 | Hunter Valley

We started off our trip by visiting Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park to see and learn about many different local Aussie animals. We even get to touch the different animals as some of them are freely roaming around the park. We continued on to visit 2 different boutique wineries, where we got the chance to try out almost 20 variety of wines.

WK 5 | Karloo Pools and Kangaroo Creek with WanderSoc

This hike was a tad bit intense but the pool was well worth it! We had our lunch and get a dip in the refreshing waters of Karloo Pools then continued our journey to Kangaroo Creek which is another tougher hike. The natural beautiful views of the creek was amazing and we had fun diving and swimming in the creek!

WK 6 | Watsons Bay with PhotoClub

We had a great weather for our first ever Photo Walk from Watsons Bay Wharf to the famous photogenic Hornby Lighthouse. The walk itself was very chill with everyone busy snapping the gorgeous views of the walk. We even get a panoramic CBD views from the bay and ended our walk at the scenic lookout at Gap Bluff.

WK 7 | Cockatoo Island

Discovering the long and illustrious history of Cockatoo Island is more fun when you're together! We get to see a glimpse of how the convicts used to live in the island, starting from seeing their cells, up until their dormitories and mesh hall. The island later became one of the largest dockyard facilities which results to many abandoned warehouses that give us loads of good photo spots for the 'gram! 

WK8 | Camping in the Bush

In our first ever Camping Trip held at Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park, we get to see local Aussie animals like the roos, wallabies, emus, etc roam around freely and even get the chance to give them a friendly pet. We learnt a lot about how to handle animals, the indigenous history and culture, different beneficial plants, tasting some leaves and even termites! The most interesting session would be seeing the nocturnal animal in action during the night. Also not to forget making smores in the campfire, it sure is the perfect weekend getaway!

WK10 | Cooking with Our Big Kitchen

Under the guidance of the chef, we prepared vegetable fried rice, apple and pear puree for dessert, and packaged more than 100 meals in total! It was a really fun and meaningful event that we get to prepare foods for those in need, including homeless people, victims from domestic violence and families in crisis. It also gave us the opportunity to reflect on how lucky we are to have 3 meals a day!

S1 2018 Trips

WK7 | Royal Botanic Gardens

A beautiful day spent on an exclusive guided tour of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Government House, the oldest scientific institution in Australia. 

WK8 | Taronga Zoo

We had an amazing day exploring the zoo and all its animals. We watched a delightful seal show and had birds swoop over us during a bird show. We also did a scavenger hunt, answering riddles and taking loads of selfies with the animals! 

WK9 | Manly Hike

We had such wonderful weather for our walk from Manly to North Head. The ferry ride to Manly itself was delightful, not to mention the views at the end of our hike were absolutely breathtaking. To top off what was a glorious day, we all enjoyed some pizza afterwards! 

WK10 | Blue Mountains

Despite the chilly weather, we had an amazing time hiking in the Blue Mountains. As well as the Three Sisters from Echo Point, our wonderful tour guides took us to a not-so-secret-now lookout at Pulpit Rock at the heart of the Blue Mountains where we took in the breathtaking views all around us. 

S2 2018 Trips

WK3 | Blue Mountains

The mountains were absolutely gorgeous for our weekendtrip, with our tour guides taking us to some secret lookouts that were well worth the hike! We had a beautiful lunch in the gorgeous little town called Leura then headed to Katoomba to appreciate the talents of local street artists.

WK4 | Hunter Valley

We had gorgeous weather for our Hunter Valley trip, and by the end of the day, we were all experts on wine, cheese and chocolate. To top it off, we ended our trip looking over the rolling hills and vineyards while enjoying a glass (or a cup, rather) of champagne.  

WK5 | Museum of Contemporary Art

We were all so inspired by the talents of various Indigenous Australian artists and our wonderful guide took us through the beautiful galleries of the Museum of Contemporary Art.

WK6 | Annual Snow Trip

The snow trip was so much fun! Two whole days of skiing and snowboarding- what more could you ask for? Despite how sore we all felt, we had loads of fun and made so many new friends.

WK7 | Manly to North Head Hike

We were so lucky to have such beautiful weather for our hike. It was great exercise and the breathtaking views were well worth the effort!

WK8 | Art Gallery of NSW

We had an amazing time seeing art from all ages at the Art Gallery of NSW, with one group member saying "We were all so absorbed and inspired by the art displayed in the gallery. It was such a great day and we had so much fun".

WK9 | Bradley's Head to Chowder Bay Hike

Just because the hike from Bradley's Head through to Chowder Bay is an easy one, doesn't mean its views are any less spectacular! We had a lovely sunny day for our walk, making the views even more gorgeous.
