The COVID-19 pandemic increased global food insecurity in almost every country by reducing incomes and disrupting food supply chains. With these devastating effects on global hunger and poverty, International Food Day comes to raise awareness of ongoing efforts to eliminate food insecurity and malnutrition. The Postgraduate Council celebrated this important day on the 16th of October with our diverse UNSW community by running a competition on preparing different cultural food using sustainable and nutritious recipes. This event tackled the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. Thanks to all those who showed interest, participated and shared their cultural food with us. Please meet our first three winners:

International Night Markets

Our International Team ran a stall at the International Night Markets on the 27th of October to distribute Chicken Dumplings to all visitors. We used the recipe provided by the first winner (Xiao Ying Wong) of the International Food Competition and we acknowledged the efforts and culture behind this tasty food.

ADHD Awareness Climb

The International Team in collaboration with the Equity Team organised an ADHD awareness climb, where we gathered postgraduate and undergraduate students with ADHD and climbed Sydney Harbour Bridge! We wanted to highlight that the diversity of our brain styles is deeper than the colour of our skin, and far more mysterious and miraculous than a label or diagnosis could ever encompass.
