UPDATE MON 16 AUG 2021

Hey fam! We know with increasing restrictions and COVID cases, it can be a really confusing to know what the right thing to do is, so let's clear that up a little.

The good news is that FOOD HUB will remain open throughout lockdown and is legal to access as a recognised reasonable excuse to leave home. However, as of MON 16 AUG 2021, residents of Sydney should access food and necessities within 5km of home wherever possible.

If you live more than 5km from UNSW you have a few other options including contacting Food Hub about arranging a delivery or searching for other food relief options in Sydney here, including...

OzHarvest Market Waterloo

OzHarvest Mobile Market (Regional NSW)

OzHarvest Hamper Hub Granville

OzHarvest Hamper Hub Lakemba

Study NSW and Food Bank

Stay safe and head over to Arc Help if you have any other questions or concerns related to lockdown and COVID-19.

FOOD HUB is the free grocery store for UNSW students (including UNSW Global). Its your place to stop by and get a hamper of nutritious ingredients to fuel your studies. FOOD HUB is located Gate 1, High Street (between UNSW Fitness & Aquatic and IGA). Currently, you are required to register for timeslots:

  • MON 2-4PM
  • WED 2-4PM
  • FRI 11AM-1PM

Remember:

- Register ahead of time
- Practice physical distancing while you're out
- Stay at home if you have flu symptoms
- Check updated COVID-19 hotspots and cases to make sure you haven't had recent contact
- Let us know if you are unable to come and we can do our best to organise a drop-off

In order to be healthy and hygienic we please only attend Food Hub if you have registered. We have also collected a list of important resources at www.arc.unsw.edu.au/international-support

An average hamper will include:

  • Beans
  • Cereal
  • Soup

How can you help?

We're taking donations!

  • Volunteer! Volunteers make it all happen, so e-mail Miles at foodhub@arc.unsw.edu.au with an expression of interest today. (You also get first dibs on groceries. Win-win.)
  • If you'd like to make a food donation, please drop by during opening hours or leave your items in our 24/7 Food Hub Cupboard at Sam Cracknel.
  • We'd love monetary donations, big and small! Funds received will help us purchase supplies for our hampers. Each hamper costs approximately $10.
  • A small portion of donations received will be used to fund a "Pay it Forward" initiative via campus retailers, to sponsor a coffee or meal for those in need.
