In restless hour, the mind simmers,
A broth of thoughts matures through longing.
As the calm night sleeps, we welcome the luminescent day,
Chasing the unfinished progress of yesterday.
Curious for more, complacent for none.
The heart knocks as the mind stirs.
Questions rise, answers fall,
As we keep counting, forevermore.
Wise as a crow, caged as a hummingbird,
Restrained, as though we believe we are free.
In our restless reach for the immediate,
We blur the horizon that was always ours to see.
Historians of our own pages,
Writers of our own stories.
Optimistic as it seems,
We still write what we choose to believe.
As shackles bind us to the past,
Preserving what we once were.
Burdened by the familiar pain and sorrow,
We long to close that door forevermore.
Human as we may be, we live to regret,
Becoming one with darkness to start again.
Forevermore restless to start anew,
Reflecting on who we once knew.
Promises made, words unspoken,
In token of appreciation.
Continuing to remember who we are,
Acquainted with you, but lost.
As the future appears veiled,
Much is unforeseen.
As what was prior withers away,
Only to be born anew.
In the present, I feel restrained,
Wanting to break free.
We continue onwards, carrying the past,
Climbing towards a bittersweet future.
Whilst unknown,
I don’t need to know all of it.
Taking one step after another,
Wanting to feel what is next.
Walking an unmarked dark path,
Where the pavement lacks streetlamps.
Letting go of what once was,
To run my heart freely.
Content with each day, hungry for more,
Desire fuels ambition as discipline holds.
Before long, panic knocks on the door,
We rush to futures we cannot control.
The noise begins to quiet at long last,
Where thought no longer runs astray.
We soften into the passing moments,
And learn to sit with what has yet to come.
As we savour cups of tea,
Cherishing the fragrant aroma.
We linger in longing and grace,
Trapped in the present of the past embrace.
Ecstatic for a future unseen,
Yet uncertain and curious at the core.
Falling endlessly, clinging to stasis,
Unsure of where we are meant to go.
In restlessness, we attach too tightly,
Grasping moments that never should be kept.
To be restless well is to learn release,
Witness how vast life can truly be.
The Present holds us forevermore closer,
Past hugging tight to the Future.
Eternally uncertain,
Yet expecting in certainty.
As memories and moments are passing,
We seek to run in free spirit.
In a garden of memories,
We cherish and appreciate.
We kindle and remember yesteryear,
A toast to a new beginning.
Wanting to do more for ourselves,
Cordially waving and smiling.
