How did Roundhouse Innovate for Leading Global Innov8rs?

15 MAR 2019

Innov8rs Sydney hosted an intimate, immersive and impactful three-day event at The Roundhouse to teach corporate attendees from 18 industries what it takes to innovate in their fields.

The Brief

From 25-27 September 2018, we welcomed delegates from leading pharmaceutical, university, finance, recruitment, government, medical, airline and telecommunication industries for a multi-day corporate innovation learning experience. During three consecutive days, delegates participated in over 20 sessions to connect, collaborate and co-create.

Innov8rs sought a venue that would spark an innovative spirit in its guests to create an engaging forum for the topic of the conference. The event called for a unique conference set-up, with additional breakout rooms for talks, discussions and workshops within close proximity to Sydney’s CBD.

The solution

Innov8rs gained an immediate reaction from their patrons with the venue’s distinctive round shape, setting itself apart from the conventional conference space.

“Teaching corporate leaders about innovation becomes a lot easier when they are met with a unique and exciting venue. It captures their interest from the very beginning, with eyes and ears open to exploring new ideas” said Innov8ers Event Director, Bernadett Nagy.

The Main Room was used to host trending topics and case study talks, including Mark Greenfield from Mastercard presenting “Innovation in Action” and Uber’s Georgia Foster with “Why Successful Stakeholder Engagement is Essential for Innovation”. Delegates also heard from influential figures from Commonwealth Bank, Deloitte, RMIT, Telstra, NAB and Lendlease.

To keep delegates engaged throughout the multi-day event, breakout rooms were used for guests to relax and socialise with coffee, lunch and afternoon tea throughout an intensive conference program. Other rooms became collaborative spaces for delegates to solve tasks through creative thinking – gathering thoughts and ideas on post-it notes.

The third and final day of the conference involved delegates, travelling to innovation hubs in Sydney’s CBD to experience first-hand the theory they experienced during the conference. With a quick 20-minute shuttle-bus ride, delegates visited KPMG Innovation Lab, Sydney Startup Hub, CommBank Innovation Lab and Atlassian.

The Result

The unique venue and proximity to the city allowed for a three-day event with innovation in focus. Leading global innovators were greeted with an inspiring, iconic venue with space to collaborate and connect, facilitating engagement and learning throughout the event. The convenient location allowed for a field trip to some of Sydney’s most highly-regarded innovation hubs.

Innov8rs Event Director, Bernadett Nagy was very pleased with the smooth running of the event, highlighting the high level of service from Roundhouse staff:

“It was a pleasure to organise our conference at the Roundhouse, not only because of its unique design, but also because of the professional, collaborative and friendly staff. We will absolutely recommend it to our colleagues and business partners”.
