Contact Referral Service Student Coordinator

Employment Status: Temporary - Fixed Term
Hours Worked: 12 - 15 hrs per week
Term: Start Date: 27 January 2010
End Date: 26 November 2010
Special Conditions: Successful applicant must be available during the mid year break
Location: The position works across the Kensington campus and the COFA campus, Paddington

The Arc @ UNSW is currently seeking suitable applicants for the position of Student Coordinator for the Contact Referral Service program. The role of the student coordinator is to create an exiting program of events for the festival.

The successful applicant must be able to motivate, inspire and support student volunteers, in a way that allows them to actively develop practical skills outside their academic life. Applicants must possess the relevant skills and knowledge to successfully coordinate the Contact Referral Program. The applicant must have had previous experience within the program, as well as strong leadership and excellent communication skills.

This role is a great opportunity to take ownership of the Contact Referral volunteer program and to gain experience in motivation and inspiring student volunteers.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
• At least a year of previous experience within the UNSW CONTACT program;
• Proven interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Proven skills and experience in leading teams;
• High attention to detail with proven organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines,  
including the ability to make decisions under pressure and with short notice;
• Ability to work independently, showing initiative and flexibility
• Proven ability to manage and build relationships with people across the organisation and with external stakeholders
• Ability to motivate and work as part of a team
• Demonstrated knowledge of coordinating and supporting volunteers, as well as developing and managing volunteer programs;
• Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for student life on campus, non-academic programs and services offered to students by Arc @ UNSW;
• Proven awareness and understanding of equity issues and practices;
• Commitment to ethical work practices, OHS and knowledge of privacy regulations and legislation.


Desirable
• Project Management and/or Event Management experience;
• Experience in developing and managing volunteers;
• Experience in the administration and management of budgets;
