Energetic Fusion

My style is a vibrant fusion inspired by Mumbai's rich colours and prints. Growing up in India, fashion is deeply ingrained in our DNA, and I love infusing that spice into my everyday looks. The energy I bring to the world starts from the songs I’m playing in my little room as I get ready. Tracks like "Boasty" by Sean Paul, songs by Mumbai rapper Divine, and energetic Bollywood songs, set the tone for my style.

As an international Fine Arts student at UNSW, I'm passionately immersed in various forms of art, from writing to dance. What I wear is integral to my identity as a performing artist and storyteller, shaping my daily narrative. The freedom I experience as an Indian-Irani woman in Sydney is celebrated through bold hues and deep necklines, allowing me to feel at home within the fabric of my body.

Vintage Coastal

I often wear soft pinks and blues, a nod to my grandmother's comforting wardrobe. These colours evoke memories of her gentle presence and lullabies. Inspired by novel heroines like a 21st-century Evangeline Fox, I gravitate towards florals, lace, and heart-shaped accessories.

My cherished possessions include a locket necklace with rotating pictures of fictional favourites and a well-travelled Shakespeare & Co. tote bag. One great love is the ocean, perhaps fueled by childhood memories of H20 and folktales featuring water nymphs, river faeries, and Rusalkas.

Dreaming of coastal living, I envision mornings by cerulean waves and afternoons under willowy willows. Always at my side is my digital camera, a tool for indulging in the nostalgic charm of traditional photography and reliving the 2000s. These outfits evoke songs like "21" by Gracie Abrams, "Bloom" by The Paper Kites, or "Black Beauty" by Lana del Rey.

Eclectic Grunge

My style is a passionate blend of self-expression and love for fashion, heavily influenced by music. Half my wardrobe comprises band tees, embodying a grunge-inspired look with early 2000s flair—low-rise cargos and off-the-shoulder tees. Dark hues from 80s and 90s grunge palettes dominate. I enjoy sleek silhouettes, often layering tight dresses with oversized pieces for versatility. Influenced by 70s and 80s fashion, I blend neutral tones with pops of colour.

My layered shag hairstyle, reminiscent of the same era, adds to the eclectic vibe. I'm selective with accessories, typically wearing three necklaces: a constant piece, the Ruling Ring (Lord of the Rings), and a guitar pick. I enjoy hinting at my interests through fashion. Overall my style is a little all over the place but what is fashion but something to experiment and have fun with?

Music that accompanies these styles- (L-R):

Led Zeppelin III - Led Zeppelin & Heroine- Thornhill.

I aim to become an SFX makeup artist, driven by a passion for art and music as my form of self-expression. As a person, I feel that my purpose in life is to just make cool stuff, so I create, play guitar, design/sew clothes, make art, dance and so much more. slay.

Concert Elegance

Worn to Lorde's 2023 'Solar Power' concert, my outfit drew inspiration from 'Green Light' in her album Melodrama. Incorporating dark elements like a black shirt, shoes, and fishnets symbolized the album's melodramatic theme, while a green skirt added a contrasting pop of colour.

The second look (above) draws inspiration from the Beetlejuice aesthetic, featuring pinstriped pants and a sheer top. It's a personal favourite that I often wear with slight variations like different hairstyles, a belt chain, or boots instead of Doc Martens.

I’m Alicia, a third-year Arts/Education student. I love musical theatre, reading, watching rom-coms, and putting together new and funky outfits with random items of clothing in my cupboard. For me, it's about expressing my personality through clothing and creatively experimenting with new things. Currently obsessed with Reneé Rapp’s album ‘Snow Angel’ and collecting random Etsy earrings. My getting-ready playlist includes Reneé Rapp, 'Loneliest Bitch in America' by Emlyn, and Melina KB songs. 🤍
