GENERAL

What volunteer opportunities can I join?

There are 24 programs across different portfolios!

Each program does a different thing – read about the hours, expectations etc. here (link to volunteering page). There are some on campus, some in the community, with both general and senior positions available.

Find your thing or try something new, but no matter your interest, experience, or availability, there’s something for you!

Who can volunteer? Do I need any previous experience?

Any full Arc member which is anyone that’s a UNSW student or UNSW College student.

You don’t need any experience for general positions! Just a willingness to get involved and a commitment to being part of the team.

Get your membership here (link to membership).

How long and how often will I volunteer for?

Hour commitments are in the Position Descriptions! For senior roles, it’s usually 4 hours per week, and for general roles, 2 hours per week on average. Volunteering is term-based (Kensington terms) unless otherwise specified. Check the position descriptions for more details!

Is training provided? What does it involve?

Training is provided for all programs and required to help you make the most out of your role.

It is a mix of learning and practical guidance and will cover an introduction to Arc volunteering, your role expectations, the skills you’ll use, and a chance to meet the team. Successful applicants will receive further instructions and details about training.

If I have more questions about volunteering, who can I ask?

Reach out to the team by sending an email to volunteers@arc.unsw.edu.au or you can drop by Arc Reception desk from 9am – 5pm on weekdays for general enquiries.

You can apply to as many as you want! Just be sure you can adhere to the time commitments (usually at least 2 hours per week per program, though this may vary).

How do I track my application progress?

You can track your application through My Profile → Volunteering on Rubric. All your applications and their statuses will be viewable there. You’ll receive an email if your status changes.
