Kudos A/V

In 2023 Kudos Online will be transformed into Kudos AV.

Kudos AV is dedicated to the exhibition of video and sound art online. Video Art can be anything from moving image, film and animation, to experimental visualisations and documented performances or happenings. Sound Art can be anything aural, from your latest music track or DJ mix, to spoken word and experimental sound. This program comprises of approximately 20 AV art projects per year selected from two open call outs. Submissions are open to artists, curators, designers and writers currently studying at UNSW's school of Art & Design.

Successful applicants to Kudos A/V will receive the following support to make their digital projects go live:

  • Digital mentorship with an experienced Arc team member.   One week to refine your work and one week featured as our Kudos Online artist, designer, curator or writer. We can be flexible with timelines too based on your needs and project date.
  • Your work will be published on the Kudos AV platform via vimeo or soundcloud.
  • Your project may remain online indefinitely in our AV archive.

Kudos A/V allows you the opportunity to be mentored through the development and execution of a digital video or sound art project where you are only limited by your imagination and the internet.

Kudos A/V publishes fortnightly, showcasing around 20 digital art projects a year.

What’s Involved?

Successful applicants to Kudos A/V receive digital mentorship with an experienced Arc team member, and your work will be published in your desired format within Arc @ UNSW’s current capacity. Arc currently has access to Youtube, SoundCloud, Mailchimp, Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, Microsoft Sharepoint and office 365, and Vimeo. Other platforms and suggestions are welcome. Additionally, your project will be published on our Kudos A/V Cargo site, with options for permanent or temporary exhibition.

Timeline and Application Deadlines

Successful applicants to Kudos A/V participate within our three-week project release periods. You have one week to get your work to us, and one week to be featured as our Kudos A/V artist/ designer/ curator/writer. Overall time commitment is variable based on the number of participants in a project. Generally, each student will complete a minimum of 20 AHEGS hours (inclusive of 14 hours mentored digital project upload + 6 hours of digital project consultation).

The Kudos Online program runs for 12 months of the year. We publish new projects every three weeks, so there are heaps of opportunities!

After this time our application form will remain closed while we organise programming for the current issue of Kudos Online. If you are having trouble getting your application in on time, get in touch with us via kudos@arc.unsw.edu.au.
