WIRES is Australia's largest wildlife rescue organisation, caring for sick, injured, and orphaned native animals across NSW.

Join Volunteers United and WIRES for a hands-on workshop building dreys (nesting boxes) for native wildlife. You'll help construct safe, weatherproof shelter for possums and other animals recovering in WIRES' care, as well as those being prepared for release back into the wild — and learn more about the incredible rescue and rehabilitation work WIRES does across NSW along the way.

What you'll be doing:

  • Constructing dreys using materials sourced from Bunnings
  • Adding lining and waterproofing with paperbark to keep wildlife warm and dry
  • Creating essential weekly housing for wildlife currently in WIRES' care
  • Learning about native animal rescue, rehabilitation and release
