Moving out of home can be exciting, but renting for the first time can also be confusing. From understanding your lease and paying a bond to checking a property and knowing what to do when something needs repairing, there can be a lot to figure out.

Join Arc Savers and Arc Legal & Advocacy for a practical, beginner-friendly workshop covering some of the key things students should know when renting and moving out of home.

Whether you're planning to move into a share house, looking for your first rental, or already renting, this session will help you better understand the rental process and the questions you should be asking along the way.

You’ll learn:

🔎 Finding & Choosing a Rental: Learn what to look for when comparing properties, rental prices and different options before you apply.

📄 Leases, Bonds & Moving In: Understand tenancy agreements, bonds, rent in advance and why completing a detailed condition report matters when you move in.

🔧 Your Rights & Responsibilities: Learn about common rental issues, including repairs, communication with landlords or real estate agents, and keeping important records.

📦 Moving Out & Getting Support: Know what to consider when ending a tenancy, including your bond, and where to get legal and advocacy support if something goes wrong.

⏰ Time: Thursday, 12 October, 12:15pm-1:45pm

What to expect? This is a beginner-friendly information session for students who are thinking about moving out, looking for a rental, or already renting. You'll work through practical information about renting and have an opportunity to ask questions plus light refreshments will be provided during the workshop. 🍪🥤
