Sew Clever: Basic Hand Sewing Skills

Want to learn or improve your sewing skills? 🌞 Join us for a beginner-friendly workshop on campus at UNSW Sydney! This beginner friendly, hands on workshop will help you build on basic sewing skills to give you the confidence to repair, customise, and maintain your wardrobe!

You'll learn:

Repairs & Alterations: Sew on buttons, fix seams, hem trousers, patch holes, and mend tears

Sewing Techniques: Hands-on practice with basic hand stitching

Sewing Machine Demo: A basic demonstration of how to use a sewing machine for students considering renting or buying one

⏰ Time: 60-minute session (arrive 15 min early!)

• What to bring?  Nothing at all, Just yourself!

• What to expect? There will be a few light hands-on activities to help reinforce what we’re learning nothing intensive. No stress, no pop quizzes. Just a laid-back environment focused on learning and discussion. You’ll leave with helpful notes or handouts for future reference.
