Sirens

Sirens

In Greek mythology, the Sirens were singing enchantresses capable of luring passing sailors to the rocky coast of their island, and consequently, to their doom. Depicted as half birds, half beautiful maidens, the Sirens appeared most famously in Homer’s ‘Odyssey’ in which Odysseus managed to pass them unharmed. Since the Sirens were fated to die if anyone survived their singing, they drowned in thesea.
