Adolescence is a process of becoming - a linear timeline often disrupted by the pressures and setbacks of growing up queer. ‘Love Letters to the Horizon’ offers a suspended space of reflection: Now that we are closer to our truths than ever before, how might we reclaim these pasts and reach for new futures?
Considering the non-linear temporalities of queer existence, we’ve asked artists within our queer community to present offerings to their horizons. The collection celebrates the often uncelebrated, tumultuous reality of queer adolescence, revelling in its endless exploration as we reject static notions of queer existence. Varied in medium, atmosphere and influence, we hope the abundance of queer experience may reveal itself to us - and the utopias of present, past and future may be realised. Historically, letters have held the private worlds of queer lovers. The love letters of our participants may not look the same, but the tender reflections, utopian visions and overflowing love persists in perpetuity.
