Term 2 Off to a Flying Start

Sometimes Winter can mean hibernation, staying inside and rugged up and maybe a mug of hot chocolate. But not for the students of UNSW! This term we have been jam-packed with events and activities to shake off the Winter woes.

Kicking the term off with O-Week and Welcome Week Arc we encouraged students to engage in one of our many student-led volunteering programs and clubs. We were also thrilled to host our first session party in over 800 days, with 1000+ people in attendance.

Week 2 saw Days of Play, transforming the Alumni Lawn into a sporting festival that offered plenty of club and social sport tasters.

In collaboration with the PGC, we celebrated Postgraduate Fest in Week 3– with key highlights being our headshot & career consult event and our daily free barbecues where transformative discussions were facilitated.

Week 4 was Respect Week, which packed the Quad with interactive activations, aimed towards supporting participants in being the best humans they can be – with workshops on cultural competency, mental health inclusion and more.

In Week 5, we hosted Green Fest as the launch of Plastic Free July and delivered a range of activities geared towards promoting the sustainable actions individuals can take to save the Earth.

NAIDOC Week was the focus of Week 6, where we celebrated the proud history of our First Nations people, through an all-day festivity that included a Welcome to Country, student voice panel and Indigenous crafts.

Phew! And that’s our (non-exhaustive) list of fun events that Arc ran in the first 6 weeks of Term 2. In the coming weeks we will be hosting our International Markets event that features flavours from around the world and Stress Less Week which are mainstays on all student calendars.
