A short list of weekly comedy events under $25 sure to keep you laughing throughout exams. 

With borders opening back up, the Sydney comedy scene is sure to make a strong comeback, with more and more regular shows popping up this month, all to tide you over until the uber mega Sydney Comedy Festival comes along at the end of April. With 150+ of the best comedians coming from around Australia and beyond, there will be endless opportunities to drink, laugh and heckle. 

Want to see more stand-up but not sure where to go? Here’s a super-basic list created from very minimal social media investigation that will let you know what’s on tonight, tomorrow night, and all the other nights. All tickets under $25! 

MONDAY

Price: Free!

COMEDY DOJO 

Open Mic Comedy Night held every Monday 7:30 at the Townie (AKA Townhall Hotel Newtown), run by Comedy on Edge and Hilarium Sydney. Anyone can sign up and perform.

TUESDAY

Price: $20-25 for online bookings or $30 at the door

THE RUNNING JOKE 

Every Tuesday 7pm at Potts Point Hotel, featuring four great local comedians alongside resident host and legend Daniel Muggleton. Coming back to the stage after months of successful lockdown Zoom events which got us all through lockdown.

WEDNESDAY

Price: $15 online and $20 at the door

BONDI COMEDY 

Every Wednesday 7pm at Spring Street Social (AKA The Social Bondi) there is a range of new acts and big-name comedians, both local and international. The menu is definitely worth checking out too.  

THURSDAY

Price: $20 online and $25 at the door

UNDERGROUND COMEDY CLUB 

Every Thursday 7:30 at an iconic LGBT+ venue the Imperial Hotel, Erskineville. Advertised as premium live stand-up without the premium ticket price.

FRIDAY

Price: $20

iD COMEDY CLUB 

Every Friday (and Thursday) 7:30 at Kinselas Hotel, Darlinghurst. From the producers of Magic Mic Comedy, Harry’s Comedy, Neel Dan & Friends, this event has been advertised as having the “best comedians in the city, in the best comedy club in the city.”

SATURDAY

Price: $15

POWERBOMB COMEDY 

Every Friday 7:00pm at Staves Brewery, an independent family-owned craft brewery tucked in behind Broadway Shopping Centre.

SUNDAY

Price: $10 online, $15 at the door

YEAH THE GIRLS COMEDY 

And finally, every Sunday 6:30 at the Chippo Hotel (AKA Chippendale Hotel) brand-new all-women comedy line-up!
