What is the Arc College Board?

The Arc College Board is comprised of 7 Directors, 4 of whom are student directors. Together, the Directors are responsible for all matters relating to the running of Arc.

The Board’s role is to govern the organisation rather than manage it. As part of the Arc College Board, you will discuss the 'big picture' items that impact College student life. 

What are the time commitments?

  • This ebbs and flows depending on the time of year and current Board 'issues' for consideration.
  • Training and induction (3 hours online, 3 hours in-person)
  • Minimum of 4 Board-related meetings per year (1-2 hours each) 
  • During the quarterly "meeting season" up to 4 hours per week for reading board papers and pre-meeting preparation
  • Ad hoc meetings, training and professional development (approx. 1 hour per month)

2026 Arc @ UNSW College Limited – Board Election Notice

This notice should be read in conjunction with the Arc College Constitution and Regulations

Positions to be elected

An election will be held for four (4) Student Director positions on the Arc @ UNSW College Limited (Arc College) Board.

  • Two (2) positions must be filled by women and/or gender diverse students
  • The remaining two (2) positions are unrestricted

The term of office will commence June 2026. Elections are alternated as follows with allocation determined by the ballot and confirmed by the RO: 

  • Two (2) elected Student Directors will hold office for two (2) years 
  • Two (2) elected Student Directors will hold office for one (1) year

Students elected as Directors on the Arc College Board are authorised to represent UNSW College students on matters relating to the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Nominations

Nominations open at 9am on Monday, 2nd March 2026 and close at 4:00pm (paper) and 11:59pm (electronic) on Monday, 16th March 2026 (the electoral roll will close at the same time). 

Late nominations will not be accepted.

Forms must not be submitted until nominations are open. Nominations must be submitted prior to the close of nominations to be valid. They may be lodged electronically, using the above link. If a paper nomination form is required for accessibility reasons or otherwise, please contact the Returning Officer on ceo.admin@arc.unsw.edu.au

If less than the required number of nominations are received, nominations will be re-opened on Monday, 23rd March 2026 for a period of 1 week.

After the close of nominations, a draw will determine the order in which candidates appear on the ballot paper.

Qualifications

To be eligible to stand in these elections, candidates must be a current Student or Alumni Student of UNSW College as at the close of nominations. 

Candidates must consent to Arc checking their eligibility in accordance with the Arc College Constitution and Regulations.

Candidate Statements

Candidates may submit the following by the close of nominations:

  • Candidate Statement of no more than 150 words – information in support of your candidature (must be in docx format).
  • A recent photograph (must be in jpeg format).

Voting

If more than the required number of candidates are nominated, an election will be held.

Online voting will commence from 7am, Monday 13th April to 9pm, Thursday 16th April 2026. The method of voting will be optional preferential.

As per clause 6.2. (b) of the Arc College Constitution and 4.7. (b) of the Arc College Regulations, all current UNSW College students who have signed up for Arc membership by 16/03/2026 are eligible to vote in the College Board elections.

Important Dates

  • Board Election and Campaigning Information Session: Thursday 5th March 2026, 1:00pm - 2:00pm via Zoom

Elected candidates will be expected to attend the following:

  • Board Inductions: Week of Monday 4th May, 10:00am – 12:00pm.
  • Arc College Annual General Meeting: TBA
  • Board Meeting for Chair Elections: Wednesday 8th July 2026, 12:00 – 1:00pm.
