FILLING UP WITH THE BIG CHEESE

BY Alison Lam

Friday has rolled around again, and I’ve got two words for you: food. challenge.

I mean, why not? It’s week 3: it’s time to do something a little bit out of the ordinary before the all-nighters and ‘studying’ during the weekends start. And what better way to kick off the weekend than by testing out your (stomach’s) limits?

The Roundhouse is proud to present the Big Cheese, an intense-yet-cheerful food competition for the burger-lovers, for the food-addicts, and for anyone who’s bored at lunch time and looking to spice it up. A registration fee of $10 will have participants begin their journey to becoming a local legend by chowing down three burgers as fast as they can.

For three weeks, contestants will race against the clock and each other before facing the current Cheese Champion, Winnalit, who holds an impressive record of 2 minutes and 15 seconds.

After the showdown the winner will receive a whole year’s supply of burgers. I repeat. A whole YEAR’S worth of burgers is up for grabs. Also get this: a limited edition T-shirt valued at $10 will be gifted to you once you register. Are you convinced yet?

If you don’t feel up to the challenge though, there is always the option of being a spectator. Naturally, the Roundhouse will be serving beers and all your fave snacks as usual, so come down for these couple of rowdy Friday arvos and show your support!

Hands down, the Big Cheese will undoubtedly be one of the best things you’ll choose to do at uni. Because when it comes to burgers and competitions, there’s no regrets. Period. This coming Friday at 1pm —that’s the 4th of October—marks the beginning of this cheese-filled contest, so follow this link to witness the birth of (or possibly become!) the latest legend.
