Oz Comic-Con is back in Sydney for another jam-packed weekend filled with all the ultimate goodness from film, TV, anime, games and of course, comics.  

The pop-culture convention will be on the 28th and 29th of September at Sydney Showgrounds this year, filling the floor with your favourite celebrities, industry panels and cosplay meet-ups. With everything they’ve got planned, there’s definitely something for everyone, so check out the top 5 things we’re excited for.

Oz Comic-Con has an awesome line-up of some of the hottest celebrities from Film, TV and Comic Authors for photographs, autographs, panels and meet and greets throughout the entire weekend. We’re talking heartthrobs like Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter from Marvel’s Captain America), KJ Apa (Archie Andrews from Netflix’s Riverdale), and Australia's own Keiynan Lonsdale (Bram from Love, Simon).

This is your chance to learn what goes into creating, illustrating and writing your own comics from comic artist and writer, Dean Rankine! He’s best known for his work on the Simpsons, Rick and Morty and Futurama comics so it’s definitely a panel worth checking out. You can also find him throughout the weekend at the Artist’s Alley to get a drawing of yourself in ‘Simpsons’ style as well.

Get to know the voice actors and script writers behind the English dubbed versions of some of the most popular anime series, and what it takes to become one. You’ll be hearing talks from Aaron Dismuke, who voiced Alphonse in Fullmetal Alchemist and worked as an assistant director for Fairy Tail, as well as, Caitlin Glass, who voiced Winry in Fullmetal Alchemist and was the ADR director for the fan-favourite Ouran High School Host Club! Plus – you'll also get to see Sarah Wiedenheft, who voiced Zeno from Dragon Ball Super and Saiko from Tokyo Ghoul.

If you want to get off your feet during the event, Meta Runner is definitely worth checking out. Animated by SMG4 (aka Glitch Productions), Meta Runner is about a future where video games are everything and individuals replace their limbs with machines to boost their gaming performance. The sci-fi adventure thriller follows Tari, a cyborg who discovers her ability to master e-sports and video games by warping into the games herself. As she rises to fame in the public, she does whatever she can to uncover her past.

For cosplayers and appreciators of cosplay, you should definitely not miss out on this. The Oz Comic-Con Australian Championships of Cosplay is the largest and most prestigous cosplay contest in Australia, celebrating the very best in cosplay around the country. The winner of this contest will be representing Australia in the 2020 C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in Chicago as well. You’ll also be able to catch internationally recognised cosplayers, artist, gamer and published model, Ivy Doomkitty, there too!
